Teaching

I currently convene and teach two modules:

  • Gendering the Life Course is a 12-week core module for first-year undergraduate students. It is an introduction to the study of gender and intersecting inequalities, within the intersecting systems of heteropatriarchy, racial capitalism, and colonialism.
  • Critical Reading in Advanced Gender Theory is a Masters-level 12-week core module which approaches gender and feminist theory at advanced levels and helps students develop their capacities for critical thinking and become more autonomous as learners.

I also teach on core first-year module Themes and Perspectives in Sociology, supervise students on the third year Sociology and Criminology dissertation modules, and deliver MA Gender Studies dissertation workshops as well as supervising individual dissertations.

A series of five of my undergraduate lectures, entitled Feminism 101, is publicly available and can be downloaded  for colleagues to adapt, use and share.

I supervise a number of PhD candidates in various areas related to my research interests, including sexual harassment in Saudi hospitals, classed narratives of abortion, and sex work and motherhood in Zambia.
