Mr David Curley
Member appointed by Council (first appointed: 1 August 2018 for a first term until 31 July 2021, appointed for a second term from 1 August 2021 until 31 July 2024).
David joined the Board in 2018 with nearly 30 years of experience in financial leadership.
He is the Chief Financial and Commercial Officer of John Lyon’s Foundation, which includes the Harrow family of schools and the John Lyon Charity.
Previously, between 2018 and 2023 he was Group Director, Corporate Finance, Tax, and Treasury with the BBC, where he was responsible for a number of significant transactions, financing arrangements, partnerships, and new agreements in respect of the BBC’s public service and commercial activities.
His career has included roles as a senior Whitehall civil servant, a corporate financier, and consultant, with UBS, KPMG, and PWC, and as a non-executive director of public bodies. He qualified with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) in 1996.
In addition to his Council role, and separately, he is a board member, non-executive director, and Chair of Audit Committee at University Hospitals Sussex, which is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country.
