Supporting our community

The University is assisting with local and national efforts to tackle coronavirus. Our activities are coordinated by our Covid-19 taskforce and we are working closely with a number of partners.

Providing equipment

The University is helping to provide essential personal protective equipment for frontline workers responding to the coronavirus outbreak.

Brighton and Sussex Medical School has donated more than 1,000 gowns, several thousand gloves and more than 100 eye goggles to be used by staff at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

A further 100 gowns, 1,000 gloves and eye goggles have been donated to a GP practice.

The University is using its facilities to produce additional PPE.

Face shields for the NHS

The University is using facilities in the School of Engineering and Informatics to produce face shields for the NHS.

It is hoped that the team of volunteers will be able to make 1,000 face shields a day once the designs are approved.
