818Can I convert/open an RTF file in Word?
RTF stands for Rich Text Format and is a universal document file format and is easily read by many of the word-processing packages. It is particularly useful to those using a different word-processing package from those used on campus.
To save a file as RTF
- Open the Word document
- From the File button, choose Save As from the menu
- Rename the file if desired
- Click on the Save As type choice button
- Scroll down the list of file types to Rich Text Format (*.rtf)
- Click Save.
To open an RTF file
- From the File button, choose Open from the menu
- Choose All files (*.*) from the Files of type Box
- Select the file
- Click on Open
- Click OK to any messages about conversion
