What should I do if there's a problem with my "media for" drive in MFM?

Issues with Media drives can be resolved via the Media Drive Repair Wizard on any MFM teaching Mac. This application will assist you in re-connecting your media drive if it has been accidentally ejected, or initiates the repair process if required.

The application can be found in the Dock, or in the Applications folder on the Mac. The application icon looks like this:

After launching this application, you are greeted by a message from IT Services, you may choose to either continue, by clicking OK, or to exit by clicking Exit.

Wizard welcome screen

If you click on OK, you can choose from two options:

1. Ejected by Accident
Clicking this button will trigger an attempt to reconnect your drive to the machine you are on. If the attempt was unsuccessful, you will be asked if you would like to start a repair process on your drive:

The repair process can take some time, depending on the size of your drive. You are ok to log out after the process has been started, you will receive an automated email response to confirm your drive has been repaired and is available.

2. Missing at login
If you find your drive does not appear when you log in, you should click this button. You will be asked a couple of troubleshooting questions, this is an attempt to restore access to your drive without having to initiate a potentially lengthy repair process.

If a repair is required, you will receive this notification letting you know that the process has been started.

To reconnect to your drive if you are logged in and receive the email notification, you can re-run this help application and select the Ejected by Accident to re-connect your drive.
