When reviewing a Word document text appears in 'boxes' in the right hand margin, linked to changes in the document.


These are called balloons and you can hide them in your document.

  1. You must be in Print Layout mode (click icon on the bottom of the Word screen).
  2. From the Review Tab, Tracking Group, click Show Markup
  3. Move the mouse to rest on the Balloons command
  4. Choose an option:

Show All Revisions Inline: both insertions and deletions will be shown in the body of the document and comments wil be shown as Tooltips.

Show Only Comments and Formatting in Balloons: both insertions and deletions will be shown in the body of the document and comments and formatting changes will be displayed in balloons.
